Money is for free
A young woman does not have a job, because she doesn’t want to work for her money. She prefers to be lazy, rather than to be tired. Her underlying reasoning is: “Why should I work, if I can do anything what I want, have more time and freedom, while being paid through government support every month anyway?”. A middle- aged man is simulating that he is sick. He tells the doctors that he is not able to walk because of his hurting knees. He is lying, because he wants to enjoy life, without working. He wants to sleep out, be lazy, watch television and do the things he wants. People naturally work hard to get positioned in society as they want themselves to be. But what if there is no need to do your best? What if the existence while doing absolutely nothing, is more appealing than to work for a living? These people act with the following mind- set: “How can I fulfill my needs, with as less effort as possible?”. The examples above, show that there is no steering construction to gain an economic optimal position.
The Netherlands has a governmental support system as a social basis to prevent that people will be at the edge of poverty. But what about reciprocity? What do these people have to do for this money? Actually, nothing much…The only thing is that they have to go to the doctors to convince them that they are really not able to work and show social security that they really do their best in finding a job, which lays in the amount of solicitation letters. So, in this sense money is ‘for free’.
On the other hand, there are really sick people who are dealing with inertia, the incapability to work. This cannot be denied. These people have the right for a worthy existence. At this moment, there is a harsh selection in the allocation of governmental support. Even people who are very sick, are forced to work. Diseases such as a whiplash, depression, rheumatism, etc. are non- measurable diseases, which results in blind- folded enforcement. These sick people cannot cope with their incapability, are dealing with pressure and stress, so that both their mental and physical condition are being damaged even more.
The people who are abusing the governmental support- system, need to be motivated to act profitable in a way. In addition to this, more effort needs to be made to create a positive image of ‘working’ and ‘doing your best’ to gain enthusiasm and contagion in this same enthusiasm, for the contribution to society as a whole…
